Movie Monday (well, probably only this Monday because I don't see movies that often - see below)

The hubs and I saw The Social Network over the weekend and surprisingly, I found myself pretty riveted until the end. In fact, my only distractions in the theatre were a. the loud annoying couple in front of us, b. Dark Chocolate Reeses, and c. the Facebook app on my own iPhone (I mean how surreal to be checking Facebook WHILE watching the flick about the Harvard dudes that started it all?!). So for me, that's pretty good.

I'm not a big movie buff. Movies usually put me straight into dreamland. I prefer TV shows - a much shorter time commitment and after 30-60 minutes, you get a break to go check your email or go to the bathroom or change the channel. However, The Social Network flipped back and forth from 2004 when Mark Zuckerberg et. al. created the very first Facebook page to the days when he was being deposed in two different lawsuits against him. It brought back memories of my very first experience with thefacebook.com in my IU dorm room, you know, with Mark's curly mug on the top banner and when you only could be friends with other college kids. Those were the days. So for me, it was the nostalgia factor that brought it full circle. Plus Aaron Sorkin did a pretty good job with the screenplay. I really enjoyed Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip before they ran out of good story lines and it was cancelled after the first season.

  1. I liked it a lot too. Sorkin is a fantastic writer and made the coding scene at the beginning really interesting.

Also, I have another blog to follow!!

  2. The theatrical production of "Twitter: 140 characters for the ultimate distraction and information of the world behind, in front, to the left, right, above and below you" is going to blow the roof off of "The Social Network."
